What is your role at Resene and what does that involve?

My first ever role at Resene was in 2002 as a part-time shop assistant at our Church Corner store in Christchurch. I then migrated across the ditch in 2009 to work in our only Sydney Resene ColorShop at Crows Nest, then Artarmon, and held that role for twelve years. I have recently stepped out from behind the Resene ColorShop counter as Shop Manager into my representative role.

My current role at Resene is a diverse one and encompasses a variety of responsibilities that mainly focus on supporting our trade clients and project services area.

Tell us about some of your favourite projects using Resene products.

The best part of our job is working on inspirational projects, especially the colourful ones. Sydney clients love bright and eye-catching murals and artwork and encouragingly we get to meet and work with some of the best artists in Australia, some of which recently completed murals in Sydney that I love. This includes Good Space in Hurstville that engaged local artist NICO, and in my local neighbourhood ‘As one door closes’ by Will Cooke commissioned by Sydney City Council.

What is your biggest design or product tip?

My biggest product tip would be to not skimp on paint quality. And most importantly, use the correct accessories, especially the roller sleeves designed to work best when applying our products.

What are your favourite Resene colours?

My favourite colours would have to be ‘moody blues’ I’m also loving all the blues in the limited edition Resene Beyond The Sea Ultramarine range and strong oranges that pop like Resene Outrageous and Resene Clockwork Orange.

Can you recommend a couple of great Resene products for our readers?

Sydneysiders love a dead flat finish that is washable and luckily, we have two of the most beautiful products in our range, Resene SpaceCote Flat for interiors, and for the exterior, Resene AquaShield.
