Bold and brave designs for week three of House Rules!

It was a colourful week for House Rules week three! This week was Theresa and Jarrad’s turn to hand over their keys to the other teams, and we’ve got the results that might stun you! 

The house rules this week:

• Use funky lighting to enhance deep, heritage colours
• Make life easier with clever storage ideas
• The bathroom should be natural but luxe with a walk-in shower
• Turn the upstairs into a ‘lit’ teenage boys’ hangout
• Surprise Ky with a gaming themed bedroom and LED lighting

Let’s take a look at the results:

For the dining room, this team chose a bold pattern, Resene Wallpaper Collection 220358, for eye-catching feature. The ceiling and trims are painted in Resene Alabaster, with a hint of green coming through from the living area in Resene Paddock.

The living room boasts a range of colours, including Resene Paddock, and a slightly darker feature wall in Resene Cabbage Pont. The staircase is adorned in a striking blue pattern using Resene Wallpaper Collection M35901. The trims and ceiling are painted in Resene Alabaster.

The hallway features a watery green, Resene Envy, which complements the neutral shade of Resene Alabaster painted on the trims and ceiling. A brave flowery pop is seen in the bathroom on the wall tiles.

The upstairs bedroom showcases a bold feature wall painted in Resene Nelson Red and Resene Catch 22 metallic paint, with Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream on surrounding walls.

A twist on the use of colours sees Resene Bunting used on a feature wall and ceiling combo, creating a cocooning effect in the master bedroom. The surrounding walls are painted in Resene Sugar Loaf and trims in Resene Alabaster.

Ky got his ‘surprise gamer room’, which features LED lighting and pops of bright décor. The walls are painted in Resene Half Delta, ceiling beams in Resene Nocturnal and doors and trims in Resene Alabaster.  

You’ll have to watch to see why the teams chose their designs, and see them deliver their zones for judging, as well as watch Theresa and Jarrad view their transformed home for the first time. What will their reaction be?
