Falling for autumn colours

10 May 2018

Stylist Kate Alexander is right in the autumn mood – she shares the colours inspiring her this season, both in her wardrobe and on her walls.

My wardrobe loves autumn – it knows change is coming. We’re both happy to say “goodbye jandals, helloooo boots”. After all, you can’t kick through a pile of autumn leaves in your flip-flops.

I clear the way for luscious layers of coats, woollies and plethora of scarves with a seasonal ritual – the bi-annual cull. Taking to my wardrobe with brutal decisiveness I remove anything that didn’t get an outing in the last 12 months. Then I bee-line it to my favourite local fashion store and fill my empty coat-hangers with new goods.

Kate’s autumnal outfit-palette is inspired by orange sorbet Resene Tango, dusky pink woodr, deep olive Resene Woodrush and classic forest Resene Permanent Green.

And before we say goodbye to our Resene Permanent Green feature wall, here's a combo of nature-inspired goodies from endemicworld.

Walls painted in Resene Permanent Green. Rangitoto print by Jeremy Senior and Fern print by George Sand Studio, both from endemicworld.

Did you know… about the Resene Colour Palette Generator? If you find a fabric colour or colour in nature that inspires, simply take a photo, upload it to the generator and it will create a Resene colour palette inspired by colours in your image. Click here to use the clever tool.
