Trending: deep yellows

Mustard, rich gold, yellow clay... whatever you like to call it, deep yellow shades are taking centre stage lately. Once relegated to retro wallpaper, they are now cropping up on walls and as accents in the trendiest colour combos.

To bring it into the now, pick the latest fashion colours such as Resene Celebrate, Resene Good As Gold, and Resene Aloha, and mix with dusky blues, mid greys and burnt browns. See the new Resene The Range fashion colours 18 fandeck for inspiration.

James Dunlop recently released their new range of fabrics using Resene Alpine, a deep mustard, as the paint hero in their styled settings.

Here they show stylish ways to mix the colour trend, using their fabrics and other Resene colours. See www.jamesdunloptextiles.com to view the full range.

Keep deep yellows from overwhelming the room by mixing with sharp mid-greys (and in this case, a crisp white to break it up). The colours used here are Resene Alpine, Resene Alabaster and Resene Silver Chalice, and pictured with Polar by James Dunlop, a geometric jacquard sheer with a softened angular design.

Dusky colours are a perfect accompaniment to mustard and deep yellows. Get the look with Resene Alpine, Resene Silver Chalice, Resene Alabaster Resene Half Smalt Blue (triangle), Resene Rusty Nail (first circle), Resene Stinger (second circle) and Resene Gravel and Resene Black (rectangle).

The colours here are paired with Infinity, on the couch and cushions, and Tabular, also on the cushions, both by James Dunlop.

Different shades of deep yellows – from dusky to green-tinted – work so well together, as seen with this fabric, Tangent in Chartreuse by James Dunlop, against the wall in Resene Alpine, Resene Alabaster and Resene Silver Chalice.

Or keep this standout colour the hero, with one shade combined with a few shades of grey. Pictured here is Resene Alpine, Resene Alabaster and Resene Silver Chalice on the walls, and curtains in Isobars by James Dunlop.
