Copy and paste
If you’re painting over paint-on wallpaper, Resene Colour Expert Meryl Southey has a few tips to keep in mind:
Ensure the wallpaper is securely adhered to the wall with no loose edges or air bubbles. Some textured wallpaper is heavier and may require a specific paste when hanging. Check with your Resene ColorShop expert.
If you’ve chosen a solid colour paint finish, first seal the wallpaper with Resene Waterborne Vinyl Wallpaper Sealer. This is to ensure the plasticiser found in vinyl wallpaper is sealed in, to prevent a sticky paint surface when the topcoat is applied.
Use the right paint: Waterborne paints, such as Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen, work well for paint-on wallpapers, providing durability and easy application
Apply with care: A roller is ideal for covering larger areas while a brush can be used to reach detailed sections. Apply two topcoats for a smooth even finish and allow dry time between coats.
