Score big fun with this DIY pallet goal

Want to kick backyard play up a notch? This easy DIY pallet soccer goal, painted in the bold green of Resene Bilbao, is the perfect weekend project for sports-loving families. Made from a recycled pallet and designed to be both functional and fun, this vibrant goal will stand out in any outdoor space. Maybe you're entertaining little ones or just want to bring your A-game to the backyard, this project turns everyday materials into a winning setup.

You will need:

Step 1: Remove the back boards from the pallet.

Step 2: Mark two circles to be the goal targets. Ours were 350mm and 400mm in diameter for a size 5 soccer ball.

Step 3: Cut out circles with a jigsaw. Sand edges and clean up any sanding dust.

Step 4: Measure and cut two upright stands (ours were 90mm x 19mm pine) from new wood to be the support back boards. Connect the pallet and the upright stands with door hinges to create a foldable secure stand.

Step 5: Cut a 30-degree angle at the bottom of each upright stand and attach a cross bar between the two upright stands with screws and PVA glue.

Step 6: Attach a rope with screw eyelet or doweling between the stand and the pallet to create a tilt on the angle you require.

Step 7: Sand the pallet goal and clean off any sanding dust. Apply one coat of Resene Quickdry waterborne primer undercoat. Allow to dry.

Step 8: Apply two coats of Resene Bilbao and allow to dry before using Resene Black White with a Resene testpot brush to highlight the goal targets.
