Make a bright summer picnic basket with Resene testpots
26 Jan 2022
Make the most of the sunny weather with a bright and beautiful picnic painted in bright Resene colours. Decorate an old basket in a loved one’s favourite colours and surprise them with an outdoor feast.
You will need:
- Basket
- Masking tape
- Paintbrush
- Resene testpots in your choice of colours; Fleur used Resene Deep Teal, Resene Ming and Resene Salsa
Step 1. Start with a new or second-hand picnic basket. Use masking tape to tape off your pattern. Fleur used a simple triangular geometric pattern.
Step 2. Apply two coats of paint to your taped-off section, allowing for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat. Fleur used the colours Resene Deep Teal and Resene Ming along the top triangles and repeated Resene Salsa for all the bottom triangles.
Take care not to brush towards the tape, but rather brush away from the tape so that you don’t force paint under the tape. Brushing away from the tape will give you a crisper line.
Step 3. Carefully remove the tape as soon as you have finished painting and while the paint is still wet.
Fill with your favourite picnic treats and food! Fleur’s picnic basket is painted in Resene Deep Teal, Resene Ming and Resene Salsa.
Top tip:
If you like to picnic into the evening, paint selected parts of your basket in Resene White and Resene FX Nightlight. This will give a soft glow-in-the-dark effect once the sun has set.
