Easy DIY: Scandi wall hanging
27 Apr 2017
This Scandi collage was made using linen and a Resene testpot in Resene Good As Gold. Isn’t it gorgeous? Fleur Thorpe shows us how.
You will need
- Fabric (Fleur’s is left-over cotton curtain lining)
- Scandi stencil or create your own stencil (stencils are available from selected craft shops or you can search online)
- Testpot in Resene Good As Gold
- Small craft paint brush
- Sellotape
- Short length of dowel
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
Step 1: Cut fabric to a rough size and shape.
Step 2: Using loops of sellotape on the back of the stencil, position the stencil into the desired location.
Step 3: Using a small craft paint brush, fill the openings of the stencil with paint.
Step 4: Repeat until the desired size of the image is achieved. Take care to remove the stencil each time without smudging the fabric.
Step 5: Using scissors, trim the fabric to the desired size.
Step 6: Sew a hem over the top of the fabric with a sewing machine. Thread a piece of dowel through the hem and hang up with string.
