Basketful of joy: DIY painted baskets to brighten your home

28 Feb 2024

Add a pop of colour to your home with these colourful baskets. You can use old baskets you have lying around the house or head to your local Op Shop to get some second hand ones. Use your favourite and most vibrant shades or match your baskets to the colour of your walls for a harmonious look.

You will need:

Step 1: Start by using Resene Quick Dry to paint on your desired shapes – be as creative as you like!  You can even get the kids or grandkids to help paint baskets too.

Step 2: Once the primer is dry, apply one or two coats of your chosen Resene paint colours over the patterns. Fleur used Resene Lemon Ginger, Resene Calypso, Resene Vanquish, Resene Sunglo, Resene Elephant and Resene Black

Step 3: Find somewhere to display your baskets and fill them with plants, books or your other favourite belongings.

Top tip: This project is a handy way to use up any leftover testpots.  For a touch of extra bling, use Resene FX Metallic testpots.  The metallic paint will help to catch the light and draw attention to your painted baskets.
