Winner of the 2023 NKBA Student Design Competition

31 Jul 2023

Monique Morgenrood was the winner of the Best Concept Kitchen Design Category in this year’s NKBA Student Design Competition, sponsored by Resene. For this category, entrants designed a kitchen based on a supplied brief and site plan from their client.

Monique Morgenrood, with Angela Fell from Resene who presented the Award at the NKBA Student Awards Event at the Cordis in Auckland.

The competition was judged by two of NKBA’s design tutors, Mark Bruce and Milvia Hannah. Here’s what they had to say about Monique’s winning entry:

“Monique’s plans were to an excellent standard. Supplying both day and night renders allowed the judges to see the full effect of her thoughtful lighting scheme. The timber of the casual seating area provides a warm contrast to the marbled porcelain surfaces which are carried through to the living areas of the home in a cohesive design.”

For Monique’s design, she used Resene Eighth Napa on the walls, Resene Eighth Spanish White on the ceiling, architraves, skirting and doors and Resene Quarter Napa on the vertical door (splashback) and lower overheads.
