Meet the team – Torben Olsen, Queensland State Sales Manager

As well as a dedicated team of chemists and technicians working behind the scenes to develop innovative new products, Resene is serviced by an equally dedicated team of specifiers, sales specialists and ColorShop personnel who apply their knowledge and experience to assisting our professional clients and customers. In Queensland, one such specialist is Torben Olsen, State Sales Manager.

“I joined Resene five years ago, having worked previously in the trade and specification market of the painting industry in Europe, as well as within the woodcare industry in Denmark and England/Ireland.

Torben has parlayed his industry experience into the role of State Sales Manager for Queensland, which he says allows him to build relationships with industry associations, architects and designers, as well as seeking out opportunities and securing sales from across the state.

“My day-to-day role could include anything from specification writing, supporting the wider team with problem solving or carrying out colour consultations, through to meeting with our customers’ clients to ensure the end-user understands the Resene points of difference and benefits, to ultimately support the sale.

“I’m proud to have been involved in securing contracts with Star Liquor Group (Queensland’s largest independently owned pub and liquor retail group), Supercheap Auto (nationally), and a number of high-end residential projects across Southeast Queensland.”

Torben says he draws inspiration from Resene’s longevity and its ongoing commitment to providing solutions to industry-based challenges.

“One of the aspects that attracted me to Resene, and one I love to impart to our clients, is the long history of research and innovation, which has seen the development of waterborne products such as Enamacryl, Lustacryl, SpaceCote and ClinicalCote, as well as other industry advances like CoolColour technology.”

As Resene celebrates 80 years of colour and innovation this year, is there a particular colour the speaks to Torben?

“As a Dane, my natural affinity leans towards the light, bright neutrals that characterise Scandinavian design, of which the Resene The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck has many options to choose from. However, since moving to Queensland with its tropical/sub-tropical climate, I find myself drawn to more saturated colours such as Blumine.”
