What is your role at Resene and what does that involve?

My role is Resene State Sales Manager for Victoria in Australia and touches every part of the business in one way or another. From stock to store set up and everything in between. I look after specifiers and assist with technical specification writing, product selection and sometimes colour assistance and run the sales team and stores for the State. 

Tell us about some of your favourite projects using Resene products.

Over the last few decades, I have been fortunate to work on many wonderful and interesting projects. My favourites are definitely those that take some technical thinking mixed with creative input. When those two things come together well, it can be amazing. When I moved to Melbourne six years ago, my first major project was the Abbotsford Convent laundries. This beautiful heritage building had such a rich and interesting history in its walls and we had to find ways to preserve that without damaging any of the existing finishes. A huge undertaking by some clever architects, builders and historians and the Resene touch at the end! Mural projects are also a favourite part of my job. I am lucky to work with some of Australia’s most talented artists and see them use Resene paint in incredibly creative and beautiful ways. Public art can change the humdrum into magnificent overnight.

What is your biggest design or product tip?

Know what you want to achieve. Once you have an idea of what you want the end product to look like, that’s where we do our best work. The Resene team can provide ideas, tips and tricks and technical know how to get the result you want on any design. Our wide range of products can achieve an amazing outcome on even the toughest design brief. 

What are your favourite Resene colours?

OH that’s a tough one! It changes often as I discover and rediscover colours within our extensive colour range. Right now, I’m partial to Resene Juniper which is a beautiful Nordic blue green and looks amazing with Resene White Pointer. Ask me again in a week and it will be something different!
