Bring your design to life with the Resene Wallpaper Competition

Have you always wanted to design your own wallpaper or wall mural? Here's your chance to get creative and win prizes with the Resene Wallpaper Design Competition!

There is over $7,000 in prizes to be won!

Entry open to New Zealand and Australia, including specifiers, interior designers, graphic designers, design students, wallpaper hangers, wallpaper lovers and anyone who has ever wanted to design their own wallpaper.

How to enter:

Submit design as a jpg file (RGB colour mode) with a minimum 300dpi resolution.

You may enter as many times as you wish.

Wallpaper repeat design (all over print)

• Choose your own theme
• Work on a design to fit 50cm square.
• Design must be able to pattern repeat on the edges or leave solid colour on the edges to allow for easy matching.
• Wallpaper designs must be suitable for general display to the public.
• Use Resene RGB values for colours. A Photoshop file for Resene colours is available from www.resene.com/photoshop or RGB values are available from www.resene.co.nz/colour or www.resene.co.nz/rgbvalues (.xls file). You can use as many Resene colours as you wish.
• All designs must be owned by the person submitting them.

Winning designs:

The winning design will win a prize pack worth over $3000, including:

• Up to 15 square metres of the winning design, via the Resene WallPrint service – value NZ$1500
• NZ $1000 Prezzy card
• NZ $500 Resene ColorShop voucher
• Winning design shown in habitat and/or BlackWhite media channels

Plus, two runners-up will win:

• Up to 15 square metres of the winning design, via the Resene WallPrint service – value NZ$1500
• NZ $250 Prezzy card
• NZ $250 Resene ColorShop voucher
• Winning design shown in habitat and/or BlackWhite media channels

The winning wallpapers will be made in partnership with Aspiring Walls.

Resene may also award additional prizes at their discretion.

Entries may feature in future Resene Wallpaper Collections. Any designs used in this way, will receive a $500 payment and name recognition for the artist/designer on the Resene website with the design. This is open to all entries and may not be limited to only winning designs, Resene reserves the right to alter the artwork with permission from the artists/designer to make it fit for purpose for producing as wallpaper or a wall mural.

This wonderful pattern, designed by Alana May, won the 2023 Resene Wallpaper Design Competition. It features the shades Resene Softly Softly, Resene Soft Whisper, Resene Juniper, Resene Alabaster and Resene Primrose.

“This is a digital painting that I created from scratch in procreate, using an iPad Pro and Apple pencil,” says Alana. “I then made it into a repeat pattern using Photoshop.”

Alana’s wallpaper design proves just what artists and creators can do with digital technology and Resene colours. Her winning design is a beautiful mix of colour and nature, and we cannot wait to see it used!
