Meet this year's The Block NZ teams
29 Jun 2017
Mark your TV viewing calendars for this Sunday, because Three's The Block NZ is back!
This season the teams need to step up their game like never before as they renovate the biggest houses in The Block NZ history on Auckland’s North Shore.
The teams have just 12 weeks to complete their three-storey family homes – each has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a double garage. But the most stunning feature of these houses is undoubtedly the roof terrace which boasts spectacular views of the city, harbour and Rangitoto Island.
This year the footprint of the houses is almost identical, so the teams will need to really push the boundaries and showcase their design skills like never before if they want to earn the highest price on auction day.
Meet the teams
Julia & Ali
These identical twin sisters hail from Auckland, and specialise in creating large scale lighting installations and interactive projects.
Julia is a lawyer, project oriented, focused, organised and confident. Ali is the artist of the two, and an aspiring architect. Their decoration aesthetic doesn’t adhere strictly to an era or particular style, but they offer a different way of thinking about space, materials and light.
Andy & Nate
Andy and Nate are brother-in-laws from Hamilton, sharing fun and joker like personalities. Andy is a fireman and part time cabinet maker, and has experience with turning around recycled furniture to new... he's the more extroverted of the pair.
Nate has experience in building, painting and laying carpet, and is the DIY man in his household - incredibly practical.
Stace & Yanita
Best friends from Palmeston North, Stace and Yanita describe their style as minimalistic, geometric, colourful and eclectic.
Stace is a graphic designer, and has renovated three houses already, as well as a commercial building. Yanita is studying a PHD in Health Science – although she doesn't have the same renovating experience as Stace, her student lifestyle means she’s a pro budgeter, and her research skills and quick thinking should come in handy.
Ling & Zing (Levi & Zach)
Christchurch brothers Levi and Zach, aka Ling and Zing, are country born and bred.
Levi works in the trade industry as a suspended ceiling installer, and has been around plenty of renovations. This also extends to his own home, buying it just 21-years-old. Zach is a certified electrician, and prefers to be in charge when it comes to decision making. Together, they're lovers of all things sport and both love the retro style.
Catch the The Block NZ on Three every Sunday at 7pm, and Mon-Wed 7.30pm.
