Winner announced: 2025 Resene and NZ Gardener Shed of the Year

Each year Resene and NZ Gardener set out on a hunt for New Zealand’s best shed. From man caves and she sheds, to clever upcycled spaces, potty potting sheds and colourful chicken coops, it’s certainly always hard to choose a winner with such incredible designs! 

This year, however, the winning title of Shed of the Year goes to Johanna and Andrew King for their stunning design named ‘Chateau Shed’. With its rustic and cosy feel, along with purposefully used Resene hues, it’s easy to see why this shed won the race. 

The interior of Chateau Shed is painted in Resene Sandbar, a soft yellow gold, to blend in with the recycled distressed tongue-and-groove lining. The window frames are painted in Resene Half Spanish White, repurposed MOW desk in Resene Laurel and floor in Resene Gull Grey.  

The exterior of Johanna and Andrew’s shed is painted in Resene Gull Grey with a door in Resene Salsa, a lovely red with good depth. The gable ends are painted in Resene Bokara Grey using Resene CoolColour technology to help reflect more heat and window frames in Resene White.
