21 Mar 2024

Lakeside living awaits one lucky ticket holder in the Heart Foundation Lottery.

Taupō and its lake are world-famous for tranquil waters, geothermal activity and excellent fishing. Just an 8-minute drive from the town centre, Lottery No. 147’s first-prize home is an ideal spot for taking advantage of Taupō’s best attractions.

It’s the perfect place to host family and friends, with a large garden and raised alfresco seating area. The open-plan kitchen/living/dining area has plenty of room for your guests to sit and relax, while you entertain to your heart’s content. This superb property has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is valued at $1.075 million. Expertly furnished by Trace Beaumont-Orr of Décor Design and decked out in stunning Resene paints, it certainly looks the part too.

The kitchen is painted in gentle earthy tones that reflect the surrounding landscape. The walls are painted in Resene Quarter Truffle and ceiling and trims in Resene Eighth Truffle.

“Taupō is a location that we love returning to for our Lottery first-prize homes,” says Liz Halpin, Lottery Operations Manager at the Heart Foundation. “It’s an iconic township with something for everyone. No matter what stage in life you might be, winning this home and calling part of Taupō your own would be a fabulous opportunity.”

While capturing the atmosphere of a cruisy, lakeside village, Taupō also boasts a variety of boutique shops, art and craft galleries, spas and a lively dining scene. Life here is to be taken at your leisure.

The relaxing interior of the home certainly reflects the lifestyle this gorgeous town has to offer.

The ochre and clay tones of décor complement the mushroom taupe of the walls painted in Resene Quarter Truffle. Ceiling and trims are painted in Resene Eighth Truffle.

Trace Beaumont-Orr shares with us her creative process when bringing this Lottery home to life.

What was your design brief?

“For this home, I wanted to achieve a modern, warm vibe that felt inviting when you walked in. Usually for Heart Foundation Lottery homes in locations by the water, we go for soft blues, green and neutrals throughout the property. This time, I wanted to try something different by incorporating blush pink and chocolate black as an accent.”

The entrance is chic and welcoming, with a panelled wall painted in Resene Quarter Truffle. Ceiling and trims are painted in Resene Eighth Truffle.

What colours did you choose?

“For the main interior walls, I went with the neutral classic Resene Quarter Truffle. It’s a great alternative to white with a slight taupe undertone. I paired this with Resene Eighth Truffle on the ceiling and trims for a subtle, but complementary contrast. These colours were a fantastic canvas for allowing the touches of pink and chocolate to pop in the living areas. In the bedrooms, these colours were also a great backdrop to the earthy creams, terracotta and green I used to reflect Taupō’s natural scenery.”

The earthy tones of Resene Quarter Truffle carry through to the bedroom walls, with ceiling and trims in Resene Eighth Truffle.

What was your favourite aspect of the design?

“I loved being able to bring in the quirkiness of the pink in the living areas. The art looked great against the Resene Quarter Truffle. I wanted to create a modern feel, with a hint of boho.”
