This coastal home in Ōmokoroa could be all yours

Living in Ōmokoroa offers a peaceful, scenic lifestyle closely connected to the water. The Tauranga Harbour town is known for its beautiful views, relaxed pace and sense of escape from the rush of larger urban centres.

That's exactly why this charming, up-and-coming, waterside township has been chosen as the location for Heart Foundation Home Lottery No. 165's first-prize Jennian home.

Ōmokoroa has seen significant growth over the last few years, but it still holds on to the warm, friendly feel of a close-knit coastal community. It's this warmth and belonging that attracts new residents of all kinds, from young families to sun-seeking retirees.

“Settling in Ōmokoroa is a great way to harness that quintessential Bay of Plenty lifestyle,” says Kevin Tregunno, Lottery Programme Manager. “There's a stunning beach, a plethora of walking tracks, as well as modern everyday amenities. If you love the seaside energy of Mount Maunganui, paired with the quietude of rural living, Ōmokoroa is the place for you.”

Trace Beaumont-Orr of Decor Design joined forces with Jennian Homes Tauranga to expertly design, build and furnish this gorgeous property, and she takes us through her process and what inspired her choices.

What was your design brief?

My mission was to create a modern, light and airy coastal home. This interior brings together soft, natural tones, warm textures and contemporary detailing to create a relaxed and inviting sense of calm, perfectly encapsulating Ōmokoroa.

What colours did you choose?

Light oak accents introduce warmth, while earthy moss green furnishings, soft creams and layered taupes reinforce the connection to nature. The exterior colour scheme includes Resene Lighthouse mixed with brick and cedar. Internally, I used Alabaster on the ceilings, paired with Eighth Truffle on the walls and trims.

What was your favourite aspect of the design?

One of my favourite parts of this home is the Dekton stone island, which forms a strong focal point in the kitchen. To emphasise this natural palette, I hung powerful rattan lampshades in a mossy green, which really added to the contemporary architectural elements of the home.
