Kitchen trends alert: Wooden cabinetry and matte finishes are here to stay, new survey reveals

28 Apr 2021

The results are in for the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association 2021 survey and reveal thoughts on the future of home design.

It’s time to sand down your kitchen doors and embrace what lies underneath. Twenty-six percent of people have predicted that timber will be the most popular cabinetry in the coming year. White cabinetry has come a close second, with twenty-two percent of people believing it’s on its way to becoming the new trend.

A huge fifty-four percent of people said matte would continue to be their finish of choice. A matte finish reflects little to no light and is perfect as a clear coat for your wooden kitchen cabinetry.

TOP TIP: Resene Aquaclear Natural waterborne clear finish is perfect for interior timber walls and ceilings and is designed to enhance and protect timber from wear and tear. Use Resene Aquaclear Natural with Resene Colorwood to add extra depth and colour to the wood in your kitchen. Resene Aquaclear Natural has a flat, matte finish that allows the beauty of the timber to show through.  For a flat wall finish use Resene SpaceCote Flat.  For cabinetry, try Resene AquaLAQ with a range of finish options.
