Bringing art to the streets
18 Jan 2018
Late last year, 18 artists from around the world took to the streets of Mount Manganui to create large scale murals for the town, as part of the Street Prints Mauao art festival.
The murals are based on a Maori proverb: He aha te mea nui o te ao / What is the most important thing in the world? He ta?ngata, he ta?ngata, he ta?ngata / It's the people, it's the people, it's the people.
Artists included Andrew J Steel from Auckland, Kevin Ledo from Canada and George Rose from Melbourne, with Resene providing the paint.
To check out the finished murals, including this stunning artwork by Matt Adnate of Melbourne, head to downtown Mount Maunganui or visit www.streetprints.org/spm.
