An EXPLOSIVE week on House Rules!

It’s week five on House Rules and the teams are exhausted and in a hurry to gain as many points as they can in order to win… but we bet you didn’t see this coming! It looks like not all teams play fair…

This week it was Char and Violet’s turn to hand over their keys and leave their home in the hands of the other teams. What choices were made? What will Char and Violet’s reaction be?

Char and Violet’s house rules this week:

1. Think Byron Bay with mid-century modern twist
2. Style with natural texture – wool, stone, linen
3. Create an amazing walk-in ensuite experience
4. Deliver a kitchen fit for a celebrity chef
5. Give me a rumpus room that can host games nights but can also sleep guests

The dining area is an open bright space, with Resene Eighth Truffle painted on walls and Resene Alabaster on the ceiling and trims. This team chose a wood panelled feature wall at the far end of the large dining room with their aim to meet the brief of styling with natural textures.

The kitchen is warmed with Resene Wheatfield painted on the walls and new natural skylights on the ceiling. The ceiling is painted in Resene Alabaster. With a brief to create a kitchen for a professional chef, this team may not have succeeding in creating the space that a chef, and large family, need.

The lounge, which may have not been completed, is painted in Resene Biscotti - you’ll have to watch the show to find out which colour the ceiling was going to be!

The master bedroom got an earthy toned makeover. The wall behind the bed is painted with Resene Earthstone on the lower half, and Resene Half Akaroa on the top. The ceiling is painted in Resene Alabaster. Will Char and Violet agree that this room met the brief of beacy Byron Bay?

You may recognise this wallpaper from a previous show, Resene Wallpaper Collection 220358 was used on the wall in the spare bedroom. Which team decided to use wallpaper in their zones as a way of saving time? Resene Half Alabaster was used on the walls and ceiling.

This luxe ensuite is a dream, with walls and ceiling painted in Resene Alabaster and neutral marbled toned tiles on the upper wall.

The upstairs hallway got a giant makeover. A feature wall with built in shelving is now painted in Resene Root Beer, with surrounding walls in Resene Biscotti. The ceiling is painted in Resene Black White. The stairwell features Resene Wallpaper Collection 22096. With two teams zones in one space, will the flurry of textures, colours and choices be too much?  

You’ll have to tune in to see the homeowner’s and judges reactions and scores… and some much awaited drama!
