Holiday inspired interiors – for a getaway at home
If you’ve been dreaming of that big escape, or perhaps you just didn’t get a break from work over the Christmas and New Year period, then we’ve got you. Until you can book those tickets, add a little holiday and worldly charm to your home with Resene paints and wallpapers. Here’s some ideas to get you started.

Make your midweek meal more interesting with a fiesta inspired outdoor space. A bold colour palette, hand-painted patterns, festoon lights and café style furniture can offer a Mexican-inspired feel. Mismatched seating can also be fun, creating that ‘pull up a chair’ type feeling you get on vacation, unlike a carefully curated home. Pick up some of your favourite testpot colours and get creative on table runners, seating and plant pots for a burst of holiday colour.
Tip: Use Resene MyArtisan Foundation Coat or for a slightly more pronounced textured finish, to create a durable, rustic or Mediterranean-style textured finish on exterior/interior concrete, plaster and cement and interior plasterboards and wallboards. It can also help to hide surface imperfections, such as cracks and blemishes, while providing a tactile, sandy texture that can be applied by roller, brush (crows foot), or spray.

Garden arches are an easy weekend project to make, and you can make them as simple or intricate as you like depending on your DIY skills. Choose a colour, like this arch and seat in the bright red Resene Poppy, which is sure to stand out amongst the greenery, and add a couple of other zen items like statues and bird baths that you can sit in silence with and enjoy your time outdoors.
Tip: Use a high gloss finish to make bright colours really ‘pop’. Try Resene Enamacryl high gloss waterborne enamel or Resene Hi -Glo high gloss acrylic.
