We love seeing your creative projects come to life, and they also help inspire others to pick up a brush! From vibrant store fronts to colourful benches and creative paint effects, we know you’ll love these.
This mural in Oneroa on Waiheke Island was painted on the Greatest Friend Shop building by artist Agata Leszczynska. Agata’s design features vibrant nature motifs with an aim to attract more people to the area. Using ReseneLumbersider Low Sheen paint Agata used the shades Resene Frozen, Resene Vanilla Ice, Resene Green House, Resene Limeade, Resene Karma, Resene Red Berry, Resene La Bamba, Resene Kalgoorie Sands, Resene Chelsea Gem, Resene Aviator, Resene Indian Ink, Resene Parsley, Resene Switched On, Resene Lynchpin, Resene All Black and Resene Smoke Tree.
Tip: If you’re painting a project in the community and are worried about graffiti, you can get Resene Uracryl GraffitiShield, an anti-graffiti finish, applied to the graffiti prone areas. Once cured you will be able to quickly remove graffiti using Resene Graffiti Cleaner without damaging the paint finish.
Clementine wanted the “perfect petrol colour scheme” using Resene FX paint effects and after consulting with a Resene Colour Expert settled on Resene Teal Blue with a Resene Gunmetal wash on top. It’s amazing what you can do with paint and this almost looks like wallpaper!

Tutored by three leading NZ artists over the last 25 years, and with work sold locally and internationally, Gaye Hall originally started painting oils on canvas but has since focused her work on waterborne paint finishes including painting river stones. Recently focussing her attention on road cones, Gaye painted this stunning cockatoo cone called ‘Cockie The Stop Go Man’ and it was then sold at a gallery in Auckland. The cone is painted in Resene Karaka, Resene White, Resene Gorse, Resene Ghost, and Resene Grey Friars.
“The cones are dominating the Auckland scene and I knew that cockatoos are quite verbal and cheeky,” says Gaye. “I named it Cockie The Stop Go Man because I thought it’s bit cheeky that cones can tell us where to go and what to do, I also thought the design would go well with the curve of the cone.”
Gaye looks outside the normal canvas to find the foundation for her works. Her latest works are designed for exterior display so combine rugged materials and Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen waterborne paint to ensure they can withstand the elements.

The team at Horizon Education had some bench seats provided to them from Neighbourhood Support and their ākonga have worked hard using Resene paints to decorate them. They will be placed around the Manawatū community as part of their initiative ‘seats on streets’. Using around 30 Resene testpots of many colourful shades, the children got to design the seats however they liked, what a great result!
“Many of our students would not describe themselves as artistic, however we are so proud of their ideas, effort and the team work that was displayed,” says Laura Campbell, Programme Manager at Horizon Education.
Artist Emma Jane Ormsby led a collaborative mural project with youth from three local schools, as well as holding workshops for local youth to learn about patterns. The mural is situated in Mairangi Arts Garden and uses an array of Resene paints. The design was based around the kōwhaiwhai patterns – a traditional Māori pattern used in whakairo (carving) and art to enhance storytelling. “Each piece of the mural is a brushstroke from a different hand and I think it’s really beautiful,” says Emma.

Heather painted her bedroom feature wall in the rich indulgent blue, Resene Decadence. Using colour cards and testpots, Heather was able find a shade she would love for years to come. The dark shade creates a cosy feeling in the room, while the white walls provide a great contrast and keep the room light.
