New look for family home packed to the rafters

13 Dec 2018

The Kennerly family home is packed to the rafters. Christine and Grant have owned their lifestyle block for 20 years. The property itself hasn’t changed much in that time, but it’s now home to three generations of the family, with Catrina, Marcus and Grant and the grandkids all living in the house.

Before

Interior designer Melissa Greenough and the HOMEmade team created extra space for the extended family by turning the 'junk' room into a useful multi-purpose laundry and rumpus room. The team made the dramatic transformation by installing a new washing machine, dryer, fridge and smart TV. They also painted sections of the walls in a coat of Resene SmartTouch paint which allows you to turn the lights on and off with a double tap on the wall. The walls were then painted in Resene Innocence, with Resene Black White on the brick wall and ceiling and Resene Grey Area on the floor. The windows were dressed with curtains from the Resene Curtain Collection in the Chevron design, coloured Steel.

Before

Outside the property had piles of materials which the family always intended to use but never did, so the first job for the HOMEmade team was clearing all that out to reveal a fantastic blank canvas. Designer Dan Mackay took on the task of creating a stately entrance to the property by planting magnolia trees along the driveway and building new feature gardens at the front end of the driveway. He also painted the fence in Resene Nero.
