Get ready for NZRealReveals and meet the teams!

18 Sep 2025

NZRenoTok, the breakout social-first renovation series that captivated audiences nationwide, is back for Season Two with a bold new identity. Rebranded as NZRealReveals, the series will now be available across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. And it officially launches on September 24!

The rebrand follows a hugely successful first season, which delivered over 24 million views and produced 428 pieces of original content. Now, NZRealReveals expands beyond renovation into a world of real stories, real transformations and real creativity – all backed by a powerhouse group of sponsors, including Resene.

“Our first season proved that New Zealanders are hungry for relatable, fun and inspiring DIY content, but we had no idea it would resonate to the level that it did,” says Founder Brooke Howard-Smith. “With NZRealReveals, we’re taking that energy and amplifying it across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram and developing a live format that will allow NZ families to watch NZRealReveals from their living room TV, while voting on TikTok."

Let’s meet the teams for Season Two:

Ash and Lou

Ash Davis, a leading creator in New Zealand, joins forces with her father-in-law, Lou Davis. Together, they’ll show us how to create multigenerational spaces for their whānau in Whangārei.

Ash is the queen of making spaces look gorgeous, while Louis is more of a ‘grab a hammer and knock the wall down’ kind of guy. “It’s chaos, but the best kind – perfect balance, right?” says Ash. “We’re buzzing! Right now the place is a total blank canvas, and we cannot wait to ‘zhuzh’ it up and bring in some serious personality.”

We asked Ash and Lou what Resene colour would represent their team. “Green!” says Ash. Although for this duo there are far too many to choose the exact one. “We’ve quickly learned there are about 500 shades of it. By the end of this, we might be colour experts… or totally confused. Stay tuned.”

Kelsey and Tai

Kesley Teneti, Black Ferns Champion, and her partner Tai, a skilful builder, are rolling up their sleeves on their property in Tauranga, bringing grit and teamwork from the rugby field into their home project.

Having recently done some renos at home, when the opportunity came up to be on NZRealReveals it seemed like the perfect fit. “We’re feeling super excited, and just a little bit nervous!” says Kelsey. “We’ll both still be working full time throughout filming, so juggling everything will be a fun challenge. We’re hoping to bring lots of life and energy to our DIY spaces! Our makeover focus is mostly outdoors, and we’re really excited to give each area a fresh and improved look. We make a great team we’re ready to get stuck in again and push our creativity further.”

Kelsey says her and Tai’s signature team colour would definitely be Resene Forest Green. “Our home is surrounded by a beautiful ngahere (forest), so incorporating different green tones whether through paint, plants or furniture helps us create a warm, earthy and grounded atmosphere. Plus, green is my favourite colour!”

Carla and TJ

Also in Tauranga, NZ’s most dynamic DIY duo “NZDIY” Carla and TJ will dance their way through their newly purchased reno project. TJ is a dance instructor, and together they’ve got all the right moves – on and off the tools!

“We came to be on NZRealReveals after we had a message through our DIY Tik Tok page asking whether we might be interested in being a part,” says Carla. “I couldn’t have hit the ‘apply’ button any faster! The house we’re doing up is one that we’ve purchased with our kids with the idea of teaching them all we know about renovating. Passing on the baton so that when we retire and they can look after us, and our home maintenance!”

Carla admits she can be an over-thinker at times, wondering if the ideas they have for the show will be good enough, or if they have bitten off more than they can chew. But we know they are going to be amazing. “We’re excited to be working with some great people behind the scenes, creatives to bounce ideas off that really know their stuff, we’re learning heaps.”

Carla and TJ have been renovating for a couple of decades now and have learnt a thing or two over the years. “We had no idea what we were up to for many years,” Carla says. “We should have probably left it to the professionals but we were driven by a desire to make our home spaces personal. I’m happy to say we have definitely improved! I was a kitchen designer many moons ago and TJ is an awesome tech drawer so he makes any ideas we have come to life on paper which is really helpful before we rip into a project.”

Carla says their team colour would be Resene Bring it On. “It pretty much sums up our philosophy to renovations and the good old Kiwi DIY attitude of giving it a go.”

Micah and Blondie

Micah Heath and his mum, well-known DIY flipper Blondie, take on their biggest challenge yet – transforming a recently purchased do-up in Glen Eden.

Micah originally got in to DIY in 2023 after buying his first home with his partner and sharing content on social media of their journey. Now having moved to Auckland he’s been itching to start more renos, so the timing was perfect when NZRealReveals popped up.

“I’m beyond excited! Even more so because I get to do this project with my mum,” he says. “We’re always up for a good time and usually bite off more than we can chew… so this will be no exception. On the practical side, we might be more of the underdogs, but I’m confident we’ll bring our vision to life.”

“The thing I love about sharing content is showing people how achievable things really are. You don’t need heaps of money or all the skills, just a good plan and a good sense of humour.”

Growing up with a solo mum who flipped houses and furniture, DIY seems to run in Micah’s blood. “Styling-wise, I feel like it’s always come naturally to me. I love playing with layouts, colour and being thrifty.”

Resene Flax is Micah’s colour of choice for his team. “It’s a colour we’ve both used on our own projects, an earthy green that feels timeless and fresh.”
