Plan your dream room using our template and be in to win $2000 cash and $500 of Resene paint and wallpaper to make it happen!

Mood boards help crystallise your random ideas and design preferences into a strong and cohesive interior style. They’re invaluable in a redecorating or renovation project. Make it, then manifest your dream room into reality.

1. Decide which room you’re going to create a mood board for. Start by collecting images and clippings of colours, textiles, decorating styles, patterns, hardware and furniture you’ll like – your local Resene ColorShop will be a great start for colours, wood finishes and wallpapers! A pattern will start to emerge, whether it’s a lot of natural, tonal colours and textured linens, or a palette of blue and white, canvas and whitewashed tables.
2. For painted colour inspo, load a favourite photo - interiors, landscapes or even childhood memories, whatever you like - into the Resene Colour Palette Generator, resene.com/palettegenerator. It will suggest a palette of Resene colours to help you get started.
3. Cull the images and ideas that don’t fit into your emerging look.
4. Paste the remaining pictures into the main area of the board.
5. Then, do the same with the other materials, furniture, fixtures, hardware, lighting colour palette, Resene paints and wallpapers and decorative accessories.
6. When you’ve got your vision together, you can start shopping for everything you need. Keep proportions in mind – you may want to swap a large light for a smaller one that better suits your home.
