Sophie's musical haven

14 Dec 2017

Aucklanders Ellen and her daughter Sophie have been going through a rough patch, and asked the HOMEmade team to help them move forward with a fresh start to their home.

Having recently downsized from a six bedroom to a three bedroom home, the mother-daughter duo were living in clutter.

Melissa and team decided to concentrate on the downstairs bedroom, creating a tranquil space where Sophie could practise her music and where guests could stay when coming to visit.

The walls have been painted in Resene Half Periglacial Blue, with trims in Resene Alabaster. The framed paua shells are sentimental to Ellen, given to her by her brother who has since passed away.

Sophie's piano is there, as well as her favourite books, making this an ideal place for her to retreat to.

If you'd love to grow herbs for your summer meals, take inspiration from the garden makeover.

Dan took Ellen and Sophie’s blank backyard and added a tranquil flower and herb garden, using Tui Compost and Tui Herb Mix. Get Tui’s herb growing guide here
