Resene colour hits the runway

30 Aug 2018

It’s fashion week in New Zealand, which means the announcement of the Resene NZ Fashion Tech Colour of Fashion prize for 2018 – and beautiful, colourful designs that will take to the catwalk, inspired by Resene colours.

Students at NZ Fashion Tech were briefed to design an outfit using fabric in a Resene colour. Of the 35 students, Makyla Ata came out on top, winning for her elegant dress Unruffled, with fabric in Resene Bullseye.

Makyla saw the crimson red of Resene Bullseye as something that would be embraced by Paris glitterati. The dress is designed with a boned bodice laced on either side, with ties falling to the floor. A removable flounce looped with covered buttons unravels the dress into multiple looks, giving the wearer permission to ‘break free’ and channel her inner Parisienne.

The top 17 entrants, including Makyla, will show their designs on the Resene Designer Runway in three public shows at New Zealand Fashion Week – the designs are a rainbow of beautiful, colourful fabrics in a range Resene colours.
