Reader project: a sparkly Rubik fridge

16 Nov 2016

What do you get when you cross an old fridge with a Rubik's cube? You get this cool project by Wellington reader Cathy Gandy. With a bit of help from her friend Jeseka Burkett who works at the Resene ColorShop at Basin Reserve, she devised a scheme of paints from the Resene Metallics and Special Effects range. They prepped the fridge using a 3M Rust and Paint Removal disc stripper, followed by a quick lick of Resene Galvo One primer.

Once that had dried, they rolled on a coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Bokara Grey then masked up the squares and randomly painted them using Resene testpots in 12 colours: Resene Gold Dust, Resene Bullion, Resene Magma, Resene Funtasia, Resene Yeehaa, Resene Time Warp, Resene Zoop De Loop, Resene Lucifer, Resene Glitterbug, Resene Scotty Silver, Resene Galaxy and Resene Enchanted, making sure that the colours were evenly dispersed.

If you have a fun project using Resene paint, send some snaps and details to [email protected]
