Morrinsville's art mooovement

01 Apr 2015

A herd of strikingly colourful cows have been released into Morrinsville, as part of a public sculptural project by Wallace Gallery.

But you won’t be hearing much mooing from these ladies – the cows are made of fibreglass and will be placed on concrete plinths nearby the local businesses that have sponsored the project.

Fifteen artists were chosen to make their creative mark on the cows, with the help of Resene who provided the paint. Each cow took between 200-400 hours to paint, and the results are brilliant.

It’s the first time the project has been presented in the Waikato, and the gallery plans for the cows to stay in the town long term. For more information on where to see the cows, visit www.morrinsvillegallery.org.nz.
