Look to the skies

24 Feb 2016

A fun, family event, the Wairarapa Balloon Festival is back this week, ready to send more spectacular hot air balloons soaring over the region.

The festival takes place 25-29 February and will pass through Carterton, Masterton and Martinborough in a series of events. This time around, Owlbert Eyenstein, a big, brainy bird, and a floating lighthouse from the USA will be the stars of the summer show, and joined by over 20 other hot air balloons.

On 27 February, the festival favourite Trust House Night Glow will take place at the Masterton Solway Showgrounds, 5.30pm-9.00pm. Bask in the ambience of the glowing tethered balloons, as they brighten the sky in a show choreographed to music. There will also be family entertainment, a night market with food and craft stalls, live music and a kids zone.

Plus keep an eye out for the colourful Resene Splash ‘n Dash competition, where balloons launch and attempt to score points through a variety of skill challenges.
