This stunning triangle wall is much easier to achieve than it looks. The colours we used are Resene Essence, Resene Melodic, Resene Mozart, Resene Whirlwind, Resene Reflection, Resene Steam Roller, Resene Nauti, Resene Cruising, Resene Half Raven and Resene Castaway.

The cover of the latest issue of habitat is hard to miss, with this stunning triangle wall painted in ten Resene colours. And the look is easier to achieve than you might think.
Stylist Megan Harrison-Turner painted the wall by hand with Resene testpots, masking tape... and plenty of time. The trickiest part was choosing the right colour selection that would work for a feature wall with such impact.
Megan decided on a selection of violets, blues and greys from the new Resene The Range fashion fandeck 18, and started with darker shades in the bottom left corner. The colour scheme gradually lightens as it heads up to the top right hand corner.
She has also broken up the scheme with Resene Castaway, a dusky gold, in three spots for an unexpected pop of colour. Just beautiful.
Why it works
- For a long time, geometrics have been playful. By painting them in a more uniform fashion, it's a fresh perspective and makes it a lot more grown up.
- Remember the trick of three? Megan's created her colour scheme around three colour bases: violet, blue and grey. Notice the three dusky gold triangles as well, to finish it off.
- Metallics are still popular but are becoming softer. Resene Castaway is a great, unexpected colour to include in there – this is one of the hottest shades of the season.
- The gradual lightening of the colour scheme gives the impression of sunshine from a window nearby. This is a neat visual trick for rooms that don't receive much natural light.
- These are such versatile colours to style around! Poppy reds, sharp greens, aqua blues and bright yellows look great against this wall... don't be scared to get colourful with your furniture and accessories.
