  • Q: My lounge looks out to my beautiful garden. Can you recommend a green for the walls?
  • A:

My lounge looks out to my beautiful garden. What is a stunning green I can use for my walls?

Do you want the lounge walls to be the thing that everyone admires, to the point that they don't notice the garden, or do you want the eye to look past the walls and out to the beautiful garden? Do you want the new colour to look good with the existing furniture, carpet, curtains etc? Or are you getting new furnishings to go with the new wall colour?

Resene Double Lemon Grass is quite a traditional green with an olive/lichen undertone and is muted and restful. You could add a feature wall in either a warm gold (Resene Quarter Putty) or a deep biscuit (Resene Double Spanish White).

Or a neutral colour will be extremely flexible to allow for any soft furnishings you have or buy in future. Resene Quarter Spanish White will look make the room look light and spacious and will work with pure Resene White for painted window joinery and ceilings.

You could add some rich aubergine, deep olive green, rich burnt terracotta and raisin brown into the fabrics you use for cushions, throw rugs or perhaps by reupholstering a chair or two.
