Tyred of the usual Christmas tree?

Then try this for size. The Baldwin’s farm-style Christmas tree was mostly designed and made by 12-year-old daughter Heidi to share with the wider Putaruru farming community. Dad was given the job of choosing 12 tyres from off the silage stack. Heidi’s nephews, aged 2 and 3, loved adding the tinsel, then young cousins came to visit and wanted to help. A trip to Resene resulted in a collection of brightly coloured testpots, mainly chosen by the youngsters because of the appealing names like Resene Unicorn, Resene Roadster, Resene Glitterbug and Resene Wellywood, to name a few. They painted Christmas baubles onto the tree and then fastened a star at the top and attached solar powered lights. Simple and easy, and it saved cutting down a tree. As Heidi says: “We have a star, cattle and sheep! Let’s add a stable next year.”
