All about a boy

12 Oct 2017

Giving away your property’s capital gains might seem like a crazy idea in today’s housing climate, let alone providing the house below cost, but that’s what happened recently for two GJ Gardner homes.

All of the profits and capital gains from the sales went to the Big Buddy charity, a New Zealand organisation that partners fatherless boys with a positive male role model. For two years now GJ Gardner has been supporting Big Buddy at a national level through donations and mentoring.

Other businesses including ITM, Huntly Joinery, Barfoot & Thompson and Resene, also contributed to the projects, in Franklin/Papakura and Hamilton/Waikato, significantly reducing the cost of the builds, so making the potential profit higher.

The Waikato home pictured is finished in Resene paints. Resene Black White is the main neutral with Resene Quarter Stack used in the main bedroom and living area, and Resene Double Black White in the other bedrooms and study.

Big Buddy has opened new branches in South Auckland and Hamilton, adding to the already established branches in Auckland and Wellington and hopes to be able to expand into other regions to help more fatherless boys off the back of these auctions.

For more information on the auctions head to the GJ Gardner Facebook page and to become a big buddy or donate head to www.bigbuddy.org.nz.
